Wouldn’t it be great to get paid to sleep? While you’re drifting away in a dream world of your own creation, your bank account becomes flush with cash. Well, I’m going to let you in on a little secret: with affiliate marketing, you can.

Last time we showed you how to be a part of our affiliate referral scheme and now we’re going to show you how to use it to make money with a passive income.

What Do You Need To Do?

Affiliate referral programmes give you the chance to earn money for every unit your referrals sell. Yes, that means if your referrals don’t sell anything then you don’t make any money. On the other hand, if they're selling a lot, you'll be in the money before you can say “affiliate”.

You have a few options for encouraging people to make sales. However, every option takes a little time and effort to get going. In the end, it comes down to making sure people have enough information to get started with both selling online and selling a high quantity online.

So, how exactly do you get the right information to people? Well, here are a few ways...

Social Media Sharing

78% of the US population are on social media these days. In fact, they’re probably on it right now - just look at all those people glued to their phones. It’s the biggest, most important, cog in your money-making machine.

Just sharing a referral link on your Facebook page isn’t enough. You need to provide some of that valuable information mentioned above. If you show people exactly how they can make money selling t-shirts online, they’re more likely to give it a go. You can do this by creating a social account (or your using own profile and online communities) and sharing ‘how to’ guides for getting started and maximising your sales (you can even find a few of them on our blog).

social media sharing

When you start to gain a little social following, you can make a post featuring your referral link and pin the post to the top of your page. That way, people can see your link whenever they visit your page and they’ll have a gentle reminder right there to get going via your unique link.

Lead By Example

Let’s be honest, when you’re on the internet you’re not going to click on a link if you don’t trust the source. Testimonials and reviews are pure gold for getting people to try new businesses so proving that you’ve actually tried, tested and succeeded is the perfect way to get people on board.

Of course, you can’t just drop a review somewhere and leave a referral link (that tends to look a little suspicious). Give people your first-hand experience by starting a campaign and creating your own content to show people how easy it is. Youtube videos or Facebook Live can be to give a personal feel.

Writing content

That means you can write, draw, animate or video your experience as long as it’s your own and it’s trustworthy. Once you’ve shown people how easy it is, you can drop your referral link and a light push in the right direction.

“This article said it’s easy to make money online. So I put it to the test. Try it for yourself here.”

Mix And Match

The biggest drawback to creating content is that it takes way longer than it does to share other people’s. So shake things up a little. Share some content when you find it and create your own to fill in the gaps and create a whole library of ideas to give people inspiration.

One of the best things about social media is that people can interact with each other so freely. When you’re helping people to start social selling, they’re going to have a few questions and you’re going to be their first stop. You'll be known worldwide as an expert before you know it!

If you’ve created your own campaigns and can give people tips from your own experience - both the highs and the lows - then you’re going to build up that trust. Most importantly, you can lead people in the right direction (because you’ve been there yourself).

Get Started

Our last tip is to get out there and get started. It does take a while to build up those referrals, but once you have a few people making sales you’ll notice a sizeable increase in your weekly budgets. You’ll also be helping more entrepreneurs like yourself to leave the daily 9-5 grind in favour of becoming their own boss. Pretty neat, huh?

Just remember that you have to convince people they can do it and the best way to do that is to show them just how easy it is. Remember when you first started - what questions did you have? It's a big world out there now but if you have any questions you can ask us at the Moteefe Hangout on Facebook.

With that passive income, you’ll be #LivingTheLife.
